Commercial – Ganten Water – Steadicam

without comments

We’ve recently completed filming of a two-part commercial for Ganten Water, shooting on location in Scotland. We began at Stirling Castle, for a night shoot, and the following weekend moved up to the far north of Scotland, in the Highlands on the north coast – filming inside a cave near Durness.

Shot on the new carbon fibre RED Dragon – one of only 4 camera bodies currently in the UK – and also on the RED Epic, Steadicam moves included plenty of tracking, including 50fps sequences. Cooke S4s were on the job, and we used everything from the 18mm upto the 85mm.

Travel time to Durness was some 9.5 hours – that’s one long journey, but beautiful scenery – and well worth it to see the mountains, sea, Northern Lights, Highland Cattle and even a Golden Eagle.

Music Promo – The Feeling: ‘Falls Like Rain’ – Steadicam

without comments

My most recent music promo shoot was on the Arri Alexa for The Feeling – and their latest single, ‘Falls Like Rain’. Shot on location in Southport, with many exteriors in strong winds, plus an interior sequence, this was a mix of 25 frames and 50 frames shooting, featuring a lot of camera movement; sometimes very subtle moves. It was a late afternoon shoot, into the night.

The edit is a quick turnaround and will be available online soon.

Commercial – Brother Omnijoin – Steadicam

without comments

Recently I was asked to operate Steadicam for a commercial, shooting in Manchester over 2 days on the Sony F55. The commercial, for Brother Omnijoin technology, featured a number of complex Steadicam moves in tight spaces in office environments, plus a half day in a Studio set.

The F55 was a decent camera package for Steadicam, with Cooke S4s, Production Matte Box and a Wevi with Anton Bauer lightweight Hytron batteries on the back end.
